Five spooky movies and shows to watch this fall season
Five spooky movies and shows to watch this fall season:
1. The Haunting of Bly Manor
This show came out just this month on Netflix as the second part of the Haunting anthology series and has already received amazing reviews. This show is the perfect thing to binge this fall as we get close to the end of October and Halloween. You follow a young au pair arriving at Bly Manor to take care of two young children who have had an onslaught of tragedies in their life.
2. Get Out
This movie came out in 2017 but continues to be one of my all time favorite “scary” movies. This horror film is more of a psychological thriller with a good amount of jump scares mixed in. It follows a young man who is finally meeting his girlfriend's parents at their home for the first time but he slowly realizes that nothing is as it seems.
Although not the typical scary movie scenes that you’d expect, Midsommar might be the scariest movie on this list. In this film, you follow a group of graduate friends on a trip to a once in a lifetime festival in a Swedish community. But things quickly take a turn. Surrounded by beautiful fields, mountains, flowers, and sun, the friends quickly discover what a dark and twisted place they are really in.
4. Hocus Pocus
This movie is an all time Halloween classic. The film stars the infamous Bette Middler with stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy who play a trio of sister witches who are released from a spell by young kids. They start to go on a quest to achieve their immortal life and the kids who released them have to try and stop them. This movie is centered around Halloween and is the perfect movie to watch on all hallows eve.
5. Knives Out
Knives out is one of my all time favorite movies. With a star studded cast comes this movie of family, tragedy, and a murder mystery. You follow the investigation of the odd Thrombley family after the patriarch is found dead on his birthday. You learn the ins and outs of their family secrets, the betrayals, the drama, and ultimately, who killed Harlan Thrombey. With a 97% rating on rotten tomatoes, this movie is loved by all and is the perfect mix of scary, comedic, intriguing. It will definitely keep you on your toes.
