Weekend Plans: Visit the "About Time" show at the Met
Source: Metropolitan Museum of Art
It’s official. We’ve spent over 200 days battling a worldwide pandemic and spending a lot of our time quarantined. But over the 200 days, we have also seen a small resurgence of our previous life. From restaurants partially reopening, to shops, to museums and barbers, small pieces of pre-covid life have started to reappear.
Here at Nacre, we want to not only provide our customers with phenomenal, empowering, and classy bodysuits, but also provide a space to learn about what is going on in our world, specifically the fashion world.
Something that we have been extremely excited about is the reopening of museums in our beloved New York City. They’ve been open for some time now and offer the perfect little safe escape. If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, we are obsessed with The Met’s show “About Time”, and we highly recommend visiting!
About Time, is a new exhibition focused on “Fashion and Duration”. It chronicles fashion over the last 150 years in honor of the Met’s 150th anniversary. It is split into two parts, “The first features sixty ensembles in chronological order from 1870 to the present. Progressive, continuous, and relentlessly forward moving, the timeline draws attention to the way fashion is inherently governed by novelty, ephemerality, and obsolescence. The second intersperses a series of sixty interruptions or disruptions that pre- or post date the fashions in the first timeline but relate to them in terms of shape, motif, material, technique, or decoration.” (Met website).
